The Farm is an 8-acre educational site, including wetland and native restoration planting areas, an orchard, and 2 full acres of vegetables. Each year, student and community farmers grow over 50,000 pounds of produce for our school cafeterias, classes, and community!
All classes are invited to visit the Farm to learn about the naturally-occurring and human-made ecosystems here on the Farm, the tools and systems we use to grow food, conversations about plant biology, ecology, food sovereignty, the global food system, and other concepts. Field trips usually consist of a detailed farm tour, an immersive, in-depth learning experience tailored to each group’s needs, and an opportunity to participate in planting or harvesting produce.
Our Farm Foundations class gives participants an introduction to ecosystem theory and agro-ecology, soil and plant science, as well as farm planning and management. Each week participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through physical farm work and observation.
Evergreen Produce Connection is the only official 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor for the Farm at Franklin Pierce. We process 100% tax-deductible donations to support these programs and many more, including our own free produce distributions, every Tuesday at 10:00 am at Mi Centro, located at 1001 South M Street in Tacoma.
Thank you in advance for your involvement and support for food justice in our community. Please consider rounding up your donation to cover processing fees.
